Preparing for an Interview

Properly preparing for an interview can maximize your chances of being offered a job. Keep the following tips in mind to help you more confidently complete your Tyco interview:

  • Do your homework.
Research Tyco beforehand so you can showcase your knowledge during the interview. Knowing Tyco's history, market position and goals will make a strong impression, and can help you come up with smart questions to ask.
  • Secure your references.
Should you become a finalist in our selection process, you'll be asked to provide professional references. Before you provide your references, it’s important that you secure their permission.
  • Give yourself enough time to get to the interview.
Save yourself the unnecessary stress of being late for your interview. Make sure that you know where you are going, how long it will take you to get there and when you need to arrive. Inquire about parking and the security check-in process beforehand (this differs by location).
  • Arrive early.
Be sure to arrive at least 15 minutes early and to check in with someone once you’ve arrived for your interview. If necessary, visit the restroom and do one final appearance check (don't forget your hygiene basics - such as fresh breath and only light perfume/cologne scents). Also, be sure to turn the ringer off on your cell phone.
  • Look the part.
Your clothing should be neat, pressed and professional looking.
  • Rehearse beforehand.
Prior to arriving, you can prepare by practicing sample interview questions, such as: What are you strengths and accomplishments? What are your goals, values, interests and skills? What sets you apart from other candidates?
  • Develop stories of personal success.
Many Tyco interviews are behavioral focused, designed to reveal your real-life experiences and showcase your capabilities in specific situations.
  • Ask questions.
Use your research on the position and Tyco to ask meaningful questions. Additionally, use this time to learn as much as you can about the position and your potential role at Tyco. It is just as important to determine whether Tyco is a fit for you as it is for the interviewer to determine if you are a fit for Tyco.
  • Follow-up.
Don't forget to send a brief email thanking your interviewers for their time and consideration. You may also want to take this opportunity to reiterate your interest and commitment to the position.
TYCO is an EEO/AA employer.
